Kylie continues to improve. Yesterday we went up in the morning to visit her. It wasn't an ideal way to spend Mother's Day, but we made the best of it. Kylie even got into the spirit of the holiday. Since Dallin can't visit Kylie, one of us has to keep him in the waiting room when we go as a family. Amy went in first to see her. As she was walking in, the nurse was on the phone getting permission to remove the ventilator. Before she could, Kylie did it herself! It’s like she heard that the doctor gave permission and took things into her own hands. She started gagging on the tube, and the nurse discovered that she’d pulled it half way out on her own. How’s that for initiative? She also was moved off of the warmer and into a normal crib again. Seeing these two signs of progress was a nice Mother’s Day gift for Amy. We took some new pictures, I’ll try and post them tonight. It took a week, but Kylie finally got back to her pre-operation level of health. In fact, she looked better yesterday than she did before the surgery, so she is making good progress.
