I went to HEB (a local grocery store) today and I wish I would have had a camera. We (Dallin and I) had to wait in line to get in and then you were ushered through a line to get ice. Well, I didn't want ice, so it took a great deal of manuvering to get around, but I was finally able to get some produce and some dry goods. The store had no electricity, no meat, no frozen food and no dairy products. There were about two lights on in the whole store and enough generator power to run some credit card machines. It was dark and hot and the floor was so wet from all the ice. I must of slipped and almost fallen at least a dozen times. Dallin would laugh at me as I clutched the cart. We had some friends over for dinner tonight, who still don't have power, and I did think it would be nice to have some extra ice. But then seeing how desperate and sad most of the people there looked, I felt unworthy to even consider it. There I was freshly showered and not sweating. I don't know why we were in the top 15% of people to get power (when ours was restored) and so many of our nearby neighbors don't, wow it is such a blessing. Centerpoint Energy, the local power company, is saying as of now that 500,000 customers have power leaving 1.7 million without. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
I also attempted to walk the trail behind our house today. I do most mornings, but I have never seen so many uprooted trees. I was literally forging through branches and pushing limbs out of the way and had to leave the trail completely many times to go up to the fence line. Finally, I was stopped completely by a flooded bridge. This is nuts!

Oh, the adventures! Now is the boring part as everything is closed and nothing is on TV except for 24/7 news. :) I hope all goes well as you try to make all the repairs needed. It sounds like you've already been pretty busy. Glad that you all were safe! :)
I'm glad all is well with the Pomeroy's. We are still without power and it looks like we will be until Monday. Enjoy your AC and other emmenities we have all taken for granted!
