Well, nothing too exciting has been happening the last month, the days are hot the nights are short and we are settling in to our new home. I finally found a dining room table that I love and after driving my husband and children all over this expansive city looking, my children actually cheered when I told them I had found one. Emily said, so no more furniture stores and I said yes, at least for a while. Emily jumped up and down for probably a full minute. I guess the furniture shopping was not as thrilling for the rest of them as it was for me. :)
Also, we are grateful the next bit of news happened so close to moving in, so the home warranty took care of all the costs--except the $60 copay, but our downstairs a/c went out in mid-june. The house is so open that with the fans on the kitchen and living areas really weren't too bad because the upstairs unit still worked. Well, the guy came to fix it. It worked for approx. 45 minutes just long enough to get passed closing time and it quit again. So the next day, again late afternoon, two guys show up to work on it--can't fix it, they leave about 6pm. We followed out the door to do some shopping. We ended up not getting home until about 10pm and the house was 86 degrees--what?! The upstairs unit also had gone out, they claim they had nothing to do with it, but they fixed it without charging us...hmmm what do you think? So anyway we got home and it was 86 in our house. Do we go to my mom & dads, the kids are exhausted... Well, in the middle of the frustration and giving everyone a cool bath David realized that we had the a/c unit in the garage from the half-office out there. (David and his dad have since torn that down so we actually have a garage now--yea) Anyway, I was cranky, oooh so cranky and David came charging in the back door with the a/c unit and he was my knight in shining armor. So we piled our kids in our bedroom and cranked up the window unit and we were actually really cold all night. Thank goodness. Texas is not the place to spend time without cold air! As you can see we had to balance it on the birdbath, but hey it worked!
Other news the kids attended Vacation bible school for a week in mid june and loved it. However, Dallin had a really hard time each morning and tried everything to get to stay with me. Once he went he enjoyed it, but it has me re-thinking preschool this fall for him and I am pretty sure we may opt for Joy School again, like we did with Emily.
Kylie stuff: She is improving slowly, but she has started on some solid foods: bananas, mashed potatoes, those gerber stars...and she is self feeding them, so that is just plain great but messy. Her order of eating: grab banana bite, get half of it in mouth, squish other half in between fingers, rub hair, drool some banana goo from mouth, down neck and onto tummy. repeat. I would take a picture, but banana goo doesn't show up too well and doesn't give the clean up process justice. Also, we should be starting speech therapy here pretty soon. It will be good for her, but at times my selfish side sees it as one more appointment each week.

The kids also took two weeks of swim lessons and had a superb time. They really improved a ton and we have enjoyed spending time at the pool this summer
We have also enjoyed the Sugar Land Children's Musuem and my friend Sally and I mistakenly read the sign that said if you wear your Museum sticker to Ben & Jerry's you get 15% off. Well, we went and now every time there has been this overwhelming expectation--sorry kids, I am not giving you ice cream at 11am before lunch. There have been a few tears.
Also, I must brag on Dora Powell, our friend who made Kylie's birthday cake for her big party we had early June. It was fabulous. Thank you, Thank you Thank you Dora! We had tons of friends and family over to celebrate Kylies first year and we are grateful to everyone who came in her
honor.

I'm glad you're thinking about doing joy school. I missed you and Sally this year. Next time you guys go to the Children's Museum give me a call. Lately Channing has been asking me if we can go.
