Sitting with the best of them...

Our little Kylie turned 15 months on Sunday. She went in for her check up today and she weighed in at 19.8 lbs. So, close to that 20lb mark. She got two shots today too, which I must say left her in a pretty foul mood. I had a friends little girl over this morning and then after lunch ( and after she went home) we trodded off to HEB. I am making dinner tonight for a friend who just had an adorable baby boy. Anyway, I am getting sidetracked. We went to HEB and while shopping Kylie wasn't too happy. She had a balloon, she was strapped into to one of those obnoxious car carts that can't turn for anything and she had a fun-loving very bored three-year-old next to her. Who could ask for anything more? Well, apparently Kylie can. Between Dallin climbing in and out of the cart and Emily getting in and out too, and Kylie screaming and screaming--it was a difficult 45 minutes. I held Kylie, bounced Kylie, & gave her my keys. The kids tried to talk to her and I even tried unbuckling her, which inevitably led to her slipping to the bottom of the cart, hanging between the seat and those steering wheels--aughhh! Oh and did I mention that Dallin was wearing flip flops, new ones that we just got on clearance from the Children's Place. Apparently right in the middle of HEB he realized that they are creating a massive sore on his right foot. Shoes are thrown off (by him ) and he starts in on the screaming fun. So three balloons, two screaming kids, one frazzled mom and a partridge in a pear tree try to check out. The cashier smiles and says, "How are you doing today?" ...you can guess the choice things that were running through my head...Oh well, don't we all have grocery store experiences like this to remind us why summer time is only 3 months long. :)

Ok on to the really good news...Kylie can sit...for the first time in her little life on Friday, she sat for about 10 minutes and has done some extensive sitting every day since. We are SO happy that she has finally crossed this major milestone. This is HUGE for her and us and we are thrilled. I guess all this therapy is actually doing some good. :)

Way to go Kylie! :) I had to laugh at your HEB experience. I have no idea what it's like to shop with 3 kids, but my mom always said there was nothing at the store that she needed bad enough to haul 5 kids to the grocery store. :) She even had milk delivered to our house when we were all little. Hopefully the next grocery store adventure will go better! :)

Congratulations on Kylie sitting! That is so great. I too got a good laugh at your HEB experience, sorry. I love when people ask "How are you doing?" and all you want to do is give them an earful and tell them exactly how you are doing. But, it's probably never a good idea for fear they might run from the store crying. Way to brave it all and grocery shop anyway.

Grocery shopping sounds like a nightmare with 3 kids, glad you made it through.

Congrats to you and big Kylie, growing bigger and sitting!

That is so great that Kylie is sitting up. I bet she will be so happy to be able to see things better.
I have to tell you, that I never know what to say to moms who come through my line with screaming kids. I feel bad, but I don't know what I can do to help them. Asking them, how they are does seem silly, but I hate to not ask, and I am sure the last thing they want to hear from me is my thoughts or commentary on the kids matter! I know how it is to take two kids to the store, and I do know that it's not very fun, and I do it as little as possible.
Hey, you really need to check out my blog Ames. I don't think I've ever seen you make a comment on mine! YOUR TURN!!!
