The Answer???

I really hope I am not jinxing things by posting this, but through a long series of events and much prayer and turning to the scriptures in frustration and searching I think I've found the answer to all of my nursing woes. Devin was tongue-tied. The little thing (string thing) under his tongue was too short. No doctor noticed. I did however, and after talking to people and doing some googling I found out that a tongue-tied baby can cause routine bouts of mastitis. So I called my pediatrician and got a recommendation for an ENT and called my friend who has a son with the same problem. She recommended the same ENT. So I called his office and begged and pleaded and I got an appointment just a couple of days later. (He normally has at least a 2 week wait.) So on Monday I took my little guy in and let them give him a numbing shot under his tongue, then clip it and then cauterize it. I am a brutal mother. It was awful but the whole thing didn't last longer than 60 seconds. They had me nurse him immediately after and he was a bit reluctant to do so, but he finally did and he has been nursing like a champ ever since. We already feel that he is putting on more weight and he just seems even more satisfied if that was possible. I also feel like my supply is increasing, which is good. The two bouts of mastitis were taking it's toll. So, is this the answer? Are we done with infections? Man I hope so! Time will tell...

Oh, so glad to hear you figured out an answer to your problem. So sorry he had to go through that, but we know it was better for both of you. Hope you both heal very quickly from the trauma!
