Now that a few weeks have passed, I suppose I am “fashionably late” enough to write again. I realize that I left things on a scary note, mentioning E. coli. Kylie is fine. The infection was nothing serious at all.
We actually took her in to see the surgeon because of her infection. We were planning on going out of town, and wanted to be sure before hand. There’s nothing like having a medical emergency, over a weekend, when you are out of town. He kind of made fun of us for coming in, saying that her infection was NOT serious, and not E. coli. Since he was looking at her tube site, he asked how long it had been since her surgery. He had said earlier that he wouldn’t remove the tube and give us the “button” until mid August, but he decided to do it right then. Bad news for Dallin and his pull toy, but good news for us.
I had always wondered how they remove the tube. It was simply a tube, going into her belly. Nothing to deflate, no valve or anything. Well, the surgeon covered it with a piece of gauze and just yanked it out—POP! Our eyes just about popped out of our heads and Amy yelped like a dog getting kicked by Dallin wearing mommy’s pointed toed heels. Again, he kind of laughed at us, but he put in her button. The whole thing took all of 45 seconds.
Having a button is great. Now, instead of having a long tube hanging out of Kylie’s tummy, she has a button flush to the skin. Basically, she is a beach ball. You pop open the button and plug in the tube. Simple, huh? This one does have a valve you have to use to remove it, which we will learn to do.
Kylie went on her first road trip, as I alluded to earlier. We went to
The rehearsal dinner was at a place that had batting cages so the boys were practicing.
Dallin received a bubble machine for Christmas and so we pulled it out the other night. It wasn't raining for once, so we could finally go out and enjoy the summer.
There has been a Children's Museum here in Sugar Land for a couple of months and so the last day it was opened we journeyed over there with my friend Sally and her two kids.
